Recipe: Basil Guacamole

Recipe: Basil Guacamole

If you have never thought about putting fresh basil herbs with avocado before, we can attest that you're missing out on the freshest, most summery guacamole yet!

Both basil and avocados are incredibly versatile, and together the flavour of the combination turns out to be the complete opposite of traditional guacamole—it's amazing and absolutely worth trying!

It doesn't get much easier with only soft avocados, sweet basil leaves, and a juicy tomato as the main stars of this recipe—simple, healthy, and a delicious addition as a dip to any meal. You won’t be able to resist digging in with a spoon or a bag of chips, and then it's all gone.

Ingredients:
yields 4 servings | prep time - 10 mins

  • 2 avocados, coarsely diced
  • 1 large tomato, seeded and coarsely diced
  • 10 pieces of basil leaves from the Nosh Box, chopped thinly into strips
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon of pepper
  • 4 servings of tortilla chips to dip with guacamole

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mash half of the diced avocados with a fork, until an even texture is achieved.
  2. Add in the remaining diced avocados, diced tomato, basil leaves, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Stir to mix them. Add more salt or pepper to taste.
  3. Serve with tortilla chips on side. Enjoy!
  4. If not serving immediately, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and keep it refrigerated. Basil guacamole dip is best consumed within 2 days.
